I used to be somewhat creative.
Calligraphy, scrapbooking, rubber stamps & cards, decoupage, sewing, you name it except for knitting. I’m painfully slow and awkward at that but keep making valiant attempts because they’ll probably revoke my state librarian certification if I don’t.
Then the unexpected realm of full time graduate school while working & being a wife and mom hit, and creativity was one of the first things to fly out the window.
After that it was graduation, the house flooding, getting a job in my new field, getting a permanent job in my new field, getting a full time job in my new field… you get the point. Granted all three of those jobs ended up being at the same place but it was never a given at any step!
I kind of missed the creative me in the midst of all that.
Thankfully a spark of creativity came back this week with a banner class one evening where I was able to start and complete a project in about an hour. Our son took one look in the window after he woke up and said it was beautiful. I think he was just so surprised to see that I’d done something artistic since I haven’t for so long.
My husband noticed how I intentionally laid out one embellishment and laughed.
Several times a day now we say this to each other from one of our favorite movies and smile. Our tenth anniversary is coming up in February!
