Welcome to wherever you are

Short story:

Welcome to my new custom blog illustration, design, layout and domain here at http://eagledawg.net! For those of you who have the RSS feed from my old blog this should be a seamless transition that doesn’t require updating your reader, although this first post may not be picked up as I’m posting it before switching the feed address.  It’s complicated.

Long story:

After I won this beyond fabulous prize, Cynthia, Joelle & Mel have been hard at work deciphering my rambling ideas into something even better than I could have possibly imagined.

The illustration is SO me. I frequently wear black tops, the skirt is a take on my favorite one that our son picked for me to wear during my 2007 graduation and of course I love my boots but at 5’10” I don’t wear them as frequently as I’d like because I have all the grace of an elephant when I’m over 6′ tall.

Coffee: a given. Books: I am a librarian! Monitor display: a take on either the BRCA1 or BRCA2 (also in somewhat plain English) gene’s DNA, in honor of breast cancer research being the reason for these new digs in the first place & my high school genetics.

The view: In reality my office is not next to the window, and the window we do have is partially under ground level so there’s a mound of wood chips and bushes then a sidewalk about 6′ up alongside a busy street leading to a hospital. I like this one of the Seattle skyline, the shadow of Mt Rainier and the Cascades in the distance, Puget Sound and an orca diving better, don’t you?

The framed sketches on the wall: The eagle statue at the University of North Texas and the husky statue at the University of Washington. Always an Eagle Dawg!

    Looks great!

I’m wearing that look (sorta) right now too. Maybe that is the new librarian costume.

  2. Loving the new blog look!! I will have to do mine soon, too. Congratulations!
